BUG! Hot fix coming soon!

We've noticed an app breaking bug on the Tablet viewport of the main website, this bug will be patched (in some way) in the next build of the site, please stand by for that update, and sorry for the inconvenience.
Edit Update

Early releases: Video Player, Home Page

We've released the early build of the new video page in addition to an improved home page. All you have to do is toggle "BETA" on either page to go to the latest version.
Edit Update

Minor Update; added admin buttons similar to the larger update hub.

We added buttons to make edits to updates easier, and made some slight alterations to how text adjusts to allow for the added button. There's an interlinked update for this over at the quick launch filter, see this url (https://go-media.editorx.io/2020/updates/viva-la-revolution-part-2) for more information.
Edit Update

Some light UI work

We tidied up the home page.

Admin Panel Created

Created an admin panel so I can keep you updated about changes on the fly!
Edit Update

Made a large number of improvements.

Made a lot of improvements under the hood and over the hood for our link hub prototype. A new admin desktop for link hub, and new design make link hub all that better. Another positive is that we have now added descriptions to the editor, with more improvements coming soon!

A little redesign never hurt nobody...

Just splashing out some ideas on how to redesign the homepage for the GMG stacked design language, obviouslybased on an older version of MO and isn't indicative of final release. I mostly want feedback on the menus (which will be collapsable, similar to how they are/will be in the og home page) and the colour splash (which will be changable in user settings. The mini menu will almost completely be popout menus whilst the fat menu will be all main page links, hopefully to differentiate them.

You can access this new page in the "PV" button in the OG home mini menu.

Other than this there might not be any more updates to the old home (unless it's to test the feasibility of a new feature, or to fix the mobile mode)

Looking forward to the future! Roadmap - August

I'm starting to truly build the websites up, and as such I should start thinking about making more consistant road map. Here's our first one;

August will be my next month for feature update completions. Right now, I've got an idea on what I want to do for 3 of our products.

Media Otaku In August, I plan to release Home Page V into the wild, this version will bring our “Stacked” design language to Media Otaku.

Shopping List (PLUS) For shopping List Plus, I plan on revising the edit pages to reflect our current design practises, including bringing the “Stacked” design language, a notification to refresh the page (because Editorx’s default behaviour is to use the cached version) and to bring themes v5 to shopping list & shopping list plus (Along with account settings.)

Business Centre For Business Centre, I plan on integrating workspaces and (hopefully) release it by August. It’ll be interlinked with tasks and unlike the PV version, it’ll also have a progression mode (which will sort it into “Current Task”, “Next Task” and “Goal” which will be a complex web of datasets that makes it easier to focus on 1 task at a time. The shareable task list should also release before then.

A new tip feature on the home page

I'll be featuring fresh tips every week, and I'm preparing a FAQ style tips page to let you know how best to interact with the website, since I know it can be daunting using a platform that has such a different design philosophy. * some backend fixes were made!* I hope that GMG is a great platform for people who create, watch or sell. I want you to feel empowered, that you can make a difference and be able to create a profile, user experience and much more, your own . That's why, effective from this post going live, I will no longer refer to this website as "My Website" but as "Our" or "The Website", that way, everyone can partake in the design, content and use of the website. Of course, creators need to be paid, viewers need content and we need to cover the costs of running the website, but I've put in a plan that would make everyone happy. (PS I forgot to mention this but to ensure the platform is safe for all users I will moderate, but only to keep people safe from harm. Think of me, not as a gate keeper, but a community police officer, making sure that criminals are kept at bay, enforcing the rule of law, and helping the everyday citizens with tasks as mundane as showing you how to upload content to our platform) Yours truly, Alain AKA gg animeotaku Developer and founder of GoMedia Group

Just a quick update

A small update to add the new themes to Link Hub to make it more coherent with profiles, more updates are to follow but may not be announced here.

Simple UI Update

Made some small updates to the ui, changed the microstore on the homepage to better fit the UI design of the site. The "GoMedia Flow" update track starts now. You can find the updates by clicking the update hub button above.
Edit Update

Multimedia Updates

I've now added the opportunity to add media to our updates. You'll see it below in future updates. Let's see how this project fairs.

Update: There's an issue with the multimedia part of the gallery, turns out the media part of the database isn't compatible with the "Pro Galleries" which is the only way to easily add more than 1 image without having to upload to entirely seperate database.

Update for the Update Hub

Backend UI overhaul.

Nice and tidy.

Edit Update

Performance upgrades, new ad, redesigned update hub

I've cleaned our some trash on the mobile end of the website. I also generated a new ad (in the planned ad format for the website) and added 2 adspots on the GoMedia Group Home Page. Please note, the fee size fpr this spot is 2 spots, and your ad will show up on both spots. It also has a 2x clear view fee multiplyer making the total fee to rent this spot as £40 pcm. Still significantly cheaper that Google Ads and Bing Ads. It's also not limited by view count or ppi (payment per interaction) unlike some Ads on videos. All proceeds allow me to fully concentrate on bringing features to the site, including things like java script programming lessons and such, and bringing fresh faces to the platform. I've made the update hub pretty. I also changed It's structure on the backend. It still needs a few tweaks, but it is working and we didn't need to pull it down. It now fits better with the subsite theme and I'll be working hard to make it look even better. That was all of today's updates, animeotaku, over and out!
Edit Update

UI tweaks to profile, mobile optimisation and back end tidy up.

Deleted some old/outdated pages, fixed UI bugs that was occurring on profile, made some slight tweaks to design of the profile page, so that it can easily be used.

...More like some much needed features are coming to Media Otaku

URLs: We're aware that the mediaotaku.comdomain has been taken from right underneath my nose, I'm working both alternate urls and alternate branding for the site (both as awful as each other) for now, there are some broken links throughout the site, the site is docile, so you should be good until I find and alter the behaviour of the URLs (They're mostly in the older parts of the site, so it shouldn't affect ya's too much.)

Now, after that announcment, I've got plenty to share...

Okay, not that much, but I'm bringing back an older, but more refined feature "Watch Live" which willl showcase a random creator's live stream. I'm also working on a miniturised version of the menu, which should make it easier to navigate the site, I'm still working on the designs of these features, and neither are functional yet. The icons are also subject to change. And the new section also breaks mobile compatability, so for the time being, please use the tablet mode of the site (this is accessable by tapping on the "show desktop version" or similar text in the menu of your favourite browser. May not be available for IOS and IPadOS users, but idk cause I use neither device OSs)

We will be transferring short link provider

In August, from the first, we will be moving provider, to ensure a smooth transition, we will not be keeping our existing short links. Standard ones like https://gmdi.page/mediaotaku will be added manually from the moment we move, but context specific ones, promotional links and some of our links we use for aggregated numbers, won't function any more. We'll try to restore some services, such as those for our ads, but bare minimum will be transferred.

Later in August, our email inbox, as well as our short links will be disabled temporarily whilst we transfer providers. This is because we'll need to create new records for our emails. When this happens, support tickets will be processed by Tabbit's support inbox (support@ggtabbit.com).

The shortlink transfer should not affect email services before then.

If you have any questions please contact support@gmdi.page and we'll answer them up to 24 hours before the transitions.

This is posted in all update hubs, on Twitter (@grahamalain), on instagram (gganimeotaku), on whistle (animeotaku).

Update HUB Upgrade

I've added a few new updates to the Update HUB, one of which is to make my job a little easier...

Firstly, the update that makes... aaaaaactually.... take a look at the bottom of this post, in full page mode:

Yes, you have to look,

Firstly I fixed "Related Updates, but that's not what you should be looking at!

You see, there's now a gallery, and if you look at the last 5 updates across about 3 products, well I uploaded (well... forced myself to upload by making it compulsory to publish updates) a screenshot of each new update. And now, as you see, I ended up adding it even if the past updates will show the default images.

Now we got outta the way, if you look at the smart filter update page, you'll see a plus icon, this is just to make it quicker to add updates.

Finally mentioned above, I fixed related updates, it broke cause it was based off the wrong content, it was using the page dataset instead of the custom datasets.

I think that's it, so farewell from animotaku, I'll see yas on Twitch later!

Introducing Quick Launch Lite

The thing about building a search engine, is intergrating it into everything you work on, and as such, I've built Quick Launch Lite, which brings the features we built for Quick Launch, to all the sites we operate.

So far this new feature is only on Media Otaku Home but we'll expand it over time to Whistle, Tabbit and Tabbit Notes.

About Quick Launch V3 Lite

Quick Launch V3 Lite is a new cross site feature that allows other sites to embed the Quick Launch Search Directory to sites without having to interface with our backend. Built for desktop it covers search & Account Settings and loses the sections. We're also planning it so you can see results without the popup and navigate other areas. We'll also reduce the number of datasets used, though as it is based on the full V3 this is not yet the case. You'll need an Quick Launch account to get started, but you won't need to connect to your Media Otaku account unless you want to use the GoMedia Pass Exclusive functions on the full site.

Launching stage 2 soon!

The platform is planned to be all encompassing, allowing creators to make videos, socialise with others and share external content, all whilst being on the platform. We have developed a 3-4 stage plan on getting there and it needs YOU. Stage 2 is set to be fully ready to launch, and it’s about time we advertised it. Stage 1 was planning, blocking out and designing the features you’ll be using. This included; designing a video platform that’s easy to navigate and not full of advertising, building databases to support single users and make it easy to sign up, designing and implementing the LinkHub and profile page, start building early access features (like themes) and finally start putting together the site and allow users without BETA clearance to join the fun. We are pleased to announce we have completed the goals set out here and are ready to launch into stage 2; Refinement of the process and advertising. Part one of stage 2 will be to build the user accessible back end for profile V2 (You can currently use V1) and a user accessible backend for LinkHub. All of which will be complete in due time. Here's the updates so far - o We've added v2 theme support in Profile and plan to add it to LinkHub o We've made some minor tweaks to features, added the ability to visit Flow, our early prototype for the business tool we're planning and changed the way the header and menu behave (Unfortunately due to the limitations on wix's part, we' re unable to apply any of the page, or account themes to them.

Update

I've just pushed a new Quality of Life Update which shifts the formerly horizontal card to the right hand side of the screen. This allows users to get to the content faster, whilst also hideing the card for viewers who don't create content. I hope this makes the website a little better to use, and cleans up the UI a touch, not to mention that you no longer need to scroll horizontally. When both expanded menu and card is displayed, it should also be nicely balanced on desktops and horizontal tablets (Optimisations are still needed specifically for vertical tablets, IPads and mobiles.)

There are no other updates for today (for Media Otaku at least).

Edit Update

Sponsor section on videos are now live

Sponsorships are now available on site. These take the place of in video ads and sponsorships, to give the viewer a better experience. - Sponsors can assemble their ad using the following components: - Title - Description - Button Text - Button Link - Background image (Preferably a single colour)

New QOL feature.

Hello, welcome users to the latest update by ya boi, Alain aka animeotaku.

We're proud to announce yet another update in the QOL Update Series. Today we have added yet another feature to make reading updates easier. We're talking about update series. Here's a basic outline to the different series and how it works.

First let's talk about interaction.

You can interact with update series' by opening any update and scrolling down to "Related Updates". All updates in this section are in the same update series.

Next we'll talk about the categories. For simplicity sake we're going to show you a template for description, it'll be shown below;

Update Series Title

Full title (If nessicary)

What the series is about.

-----------------------------------------

Our first one:

QOL

Quality of Life Updates

These updates are about improving interactions, database alterations and fixing some issues that are not bugs.

Viva la revolution

Feature Update: Viva la revolution

This update series is an example of feature updates, for ease of use, these feature updates have individiual series' to help more easily find feature updates from the same series'.

Bugs:

This series is exclusively bug fixes.

{BLANK}

Blank updates cluster together, these are only updates that we are yet to categorise, including older updates.

-----------------------------------------

Bugs in this update:

Due to making changes in the database to allow for formatting, old updates' text is too small to easily read. Since this is a bug made from changing the field type, this can't be fixed without me going into each text field and rewriting all of the updates. This won't be fixed, however it doesn't affect all future updates so we'll be continuing from here on in. I won't be deleting old updates so they will remain accessable for the foreseeable future. If you wish to read the updates, feel free to copy and paste them into a note taking application to read them.

I haven't updated the the embeddable verion of update hub with the new changes yet, so this update will appear blank for the time being.

Background updates:

We updated the database and changed the way we format updates. Updates now use rich text instead of simple text.

We added rich text elements to our internal update editor and new update uploader.

We added a text column to make categorising of updates easier.

We added a text box to allow us to add an update category to updates.

That's all for today's updates, thanks for reading,

Alain.

animeotaku.

New Home Page Layout

New layout, link hub access and video links. Simples.

Latest updates to the main site.

Recently I've been pushing a lot of silent updates to many on the sites, incl. the main one. Recent updates include: Mobile optimisations to the user settings page. (still ongoing) Live preview for the new profile page. Mobile optimisations (still ongoing) for the new profile page. Reverted the main page back to OG theming (for non acc's) and user themes (for users with accounts) Further optimised the home page for mobiles. Put the new upload system on GM Pass & Flex early access. Started developing the GMG MO Shop. Started developing the exclusives program for Media Otaku.

Hub 0.2 Update

We've added the UI components for pinned links. Added links for vital UK news and services during these times of need.
Edit Update

Mobile optimising the home page.

The home page is getting a mobile overhaul, which should be completed in the coming days, so keep an eye out! More coming soon, so please wait!
Edit Update

Complete overhaul of several pages.

In preparation for the new year, we've redesigned the home page, reviews page and video player. This is to make the website cleaner, and easier to use. See further "OOF" codenamed pages.
Edit Update

New layout, New design, New menu.

The page now has a new modular design, improving future mobile compatibility. Though please note that mobile has further limitations due to the design changes, we plan to remove these limitations over time!
Edit Update

Playlists Update 1

We've started the design work for our playlists pages and I can tell you, it will look spiffing. More in the coming days! Oh, and we've added discords new colours, hope you enjoy them!
Edit Update

Added recent releases!

Added recent releases to the bar underneath the link buttons. This *should* allow the user to see the recent releases from the creator that the video they are watching, however the implementation is spotty at best. For some reason only the videos in the Twitch Playlist seem to work with it. Tested: GG animeotaku Twitch > Present What dya do with a drunken parvatti? > Present Let's Duel! > Not Present All videos from the "My Hero One's Justice Collection" Playlist > Not Present. As a result, we may build a version 3 page. We're also working on being able to play the next video in a playlist from this bar, when entering from a playlist. So stay tuned. We also squashed a lot of bugs! Known bugs: Menu doesn't assume new font on Mobile, (Desktop unaffected) Smol video player on homepage on Mobile (Desktop unaffected) Some sections are too small on Mobile (Desktop unaffected) Recent releases doesn't show on all videos. (Desktop and Mobile) Unable to complete signup. (Desktop and Mobile) Unable to Upload Videos. (Desktop and Mobile) Unable to add links - Link Hub (Desktop and Mobile) Lack Of Updates - Project GG Workspace.(Desktop and Mobile) Introducing our new GoMedia Pass Benefit, Quick Launch. This web app is a directory of sorts, unlike google search which has useless junk, and has ads every 3 results, we have only a few search query ads when you get results, and you don't see any ads when browsing through the catalogue, or if our search box doesn't show results (unless we pre-prepare a category for new results. We also don't fill it with often useless trivia or games, meaning you get exactly what you're looking for. Better yet, you can simply search a genre, and it will list it for you, all of the items we have for that genre (Plus Ads). The only thing we track is which search you completed, and that's only just so we can serve you **Your** results, meaning that we won't use the data directly for any sort of gain. Indirectly, we may correlate data to determine which queries are most often requested, but only to adjust our advertising prices to so that we can pay the creators who form the base for everything we do, here at GoMedia Group. Wanna try it out? Simply create an account at http://go-media.editorx.io/quicklaunch whilst it's still in ALPHA. When it hits release, please be aware that the search service will be locked behind a paywall. There will always be a free version though. If you're a student at Northumbria University, it's even better. We designed Quick Launch around our early ideas for Quick Links. This is archived for the time being (and will eventually be moved to Quick Launch entirely) but for now, you can use it at http://go-media.editorx.io/gmg-quick-links whilst it lasts. It has University specific links. Please note though, this service lacks the newer features of quick launch, as it is an accountless based system. Meaning your colour scheme is single session only, it has fewer colour options, and doesn't have the implementation of colour scheme v3. It also doesn't have search.
Edit Update

Minor updates - Major: Homepage Lite

Removed translations as it was getting in the way of updates. Added and slowly migrating to a new font structure. Added some new playlists. Added Home Page Lite cause the Home Page was getting too big to load in the editor. I also removed old pages such as the classic home page, Cheerio, Alain

UI matches the stacked design language - Fixing Bugs - New Default Page Theme

Today's update is all about the video page.

First of all, the page is largely kept the same; the key differences are as follows:

  • NEW HEADER

I've copied and pasted the header from the home page, only adding a way to access the old menu. I'll eventually migrate the new menu over, but moving it isn't as simple as copying and pasteing as you can see with Whistle.

  • NEW PAGE THEME

I've redesigned the page theme to match the design language of the new Media Otaku Home Page to better cordinate designs and themes in the future, watch for more progress. The page also now matches our stacked design language being used across all GoMedia Group sites and sub-sites such as Whistle, Shopping List Plus, Tabbit, Quick Launch, Watchlist on Quick Launch and the Media Otaku Homepage.

Annnd now, some backend updates;

  • Modified the video dataset to alter how it interacts with sponsors to fix the infamous incorrect description bug.
  • Changed the AdSpot text to "AdSpot for Creators" to represent how this works differently from our other AdSpots.
  • Changed the behaviour of the AdSpot text from a fixed text styling to a collapsable field to better improve readability.
  • Updated the AdSpot section due to changes in behaviour and data connections.
  • Updated the hidden Whistle box to reflect changes in our approach to Whistle's comment ability.
  • Removed excess images to make the new theme more cohesive.
  • Fixed some sizing issues and scaling issues with text.
  • Fixed design flaws in the mobile version of the site.

Thanks for your continued support whilst we update existing pages to match the new design language.

Alain of Media Otaku, Quick Launch, Whistle and Shopping List.

Founder of GoMedia Group

Secret stuff

Made a huge number of changes, but you'll need to sign up to the beta to even have the slightest hope of finding out!
Edit Update

QOL Update: Home (old), Home (ALPHA)

Made improvements to the new homepage, including optimising it for mobile. I also fixed the issues reguarding mobile and tablet modes for the old homepage. This is part of an upgrade process for the site (I wanted to finish these updates before I concentrate on updating the content flow on the page.)

I also shifted the adspot area for the inline content area so that you shouldn't see more than 3 ads in the same screen space on any device. There's still some fixes than need doing, but for now, you should see that it feels better to use on all devices.

Other updates include;

Menus in Home (ALPHA) is now collapsable, in addition to adding a menu expand/collapse buttons. Sidebar now collapses when you open or close the menu.

Many Improvements - New Feature

Made a bunch of improvements to a few pages in addition to adding a new section to the home page lite. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: Whilst I have a blackout button in operation IT IS ONLY THERE FOR TESTING. Subsequently it isn't release ready. If you press it, at the moment you will need to refresh the page to see the things that are hidden.

Making Preparations

Now that I have an idea on how big the site will be, and have developed toe core of the site, I am now starting to build the creators hub. This hub will allow creators to; Upload Videos, Create/Edit Multiple Creator Channels, Create a Creators Hub (a URL hub for content creators; see https://go-media.editorx.io/2020/hub for how it will be designed ) and more. How to become a creator: 1) Create a GoMedia - Wix Account 2) Go to Account management 3) Click the "Get Verified" button and fill...

Early Access: Playlist Update

I've updated the playlist, a feature currently only accessible by BETA Stream only. It now utilises the new Accents dataset, allowing you to customise the aesthetic using pre-defined colour palettes. The My Hero One's Justice playlist utilises the "Pink" Accent, whereas the Archive playlist features a much darker "Virtual Boy" Accent. I've also implemented the early access settings allowing you to change the settings for features yet to be rolled out to users. This will be updated over time.

Stacked Design 2.5 & 3.0 - Media Otaku

--- This update has been added directly through the database, as such it may look a bit different. All updates until further notice will be done this way due to an issue with the site editor ---

Hello Folks!

It's me animeotaku! and I have an update for y'all, but first of all, an apology!

So it's been a while, ay? and for that, I'm truly sorry.

You see, I've started taking on Commissions and started a hobby based website all in 1 go, and my main job has had me swamped, so I've had a mental gymnastic break.

The hobby site is Shrimp's Cottage. It's a take on the atomic shrimp content and I've been given sudo-agreement to continue for now, subject to Atomic Shrimps requests, which of course, I'm happy to follow, as I am technically leveraging his brand.

I've started work on a website for a blinds company, in the interest in trust, that is all I'll say for now.

Anyways, today I talk about a major change to the Stacked-Layer Design Language.

Recently Wix added the ability to blur the background of boxes calling it glass effect. This is a feature I have been wanting for a long while, and it's a feature that really makes the language pop.

So the design spec has been modified to bring it in full affect.

In addition to this, wix did remove a feature that the design spec was heavily using; Vertical Sections. As a result, the design now uses pinned boxes, whilst the change was unwelcome at first, combined with "Glass Effect" I've manage to alter the design.

All of this is part of the stacked language 3.0 update, that is currently being worked on, between Whistle, Media Otaku and Quick Launch initially. Shrimp Cottage will be based somewhere in between 2.0 and 3.0, we'll call it 2.5.

Updated tip to help with information. Added tool tip to show menu. Added Japanese language support to site. Added auto-translate to live chat. And much more, please explore at your leisure. Fixed the disconnected codename issue in update uploader.

New admin panel feature

Whilst it is not yet activated, I've added the ability to upload twitch VOD's to the database. Please note, this does not save videos from auto deletion, all it does is assigns the video to the video player for local online playback. To save VOD's it needs to be clipped or re-uploaded to Twitch.

Ads are currently disabled.

Out of respect of her majesty's passing, ads across the sites we control are disabled. Sponsorships for creators, Creator Passes and subs to specific sites will continue to operate, however, during this time, GoMedia Pass Flex will be disabled, GoMedia Pass, and GoMedia Pass Premium will offer 90% income to cretors instead of the usual 50% cut. We offer our grievances to the royal family at this very testing time. You can view the procession happening on the BBC's YouTube channel over at https://www.youtube.com/c/BBCNews and you can watch the queen's lying in State @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vMlnIf47TY Thanks for your considerations. PS: We also blacked out our social media accounts, they will not be active for the time being. GSTK.
